1. God-parenthood Katrina's and Rita's recovery program. With time, talents, money and prayers, there are many ways you can help families who survived the fall 2005 hurricanes and flooding disaster in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and in Texas so that people are fed, sheltered, healed and able to work again, and that children can go back to school. Mary Mother of Peace-Medjugorje Charity is launching the God-parenthood recovery program that will contribute to rebuilding the life of suffering families by sponsoring their children. A model contract is available. Program duration will be initially for two years. The project is called "Rebuilding Lives after Katrina and Rita".

2. Partnership.MMP-MC is willing to work in partnership with local relief agencies already helping victims of the hurricane including the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Baton Rouge Louisiana as feasible. An estimated 95,000 houses in New Orleans and 200,000 houses in the metropolitan area were destroyed or severely damaged. One year after the disaster, in Biloxi where more than 65,000 homes were flood-ravaged and destroyed, families still are living in tents and trailers as they wait for aid. Volunteers are needed to help identify beneficiaries and family, community and corporate sponsors, and establish a dialogue with local authorities coordinating recovery operations. With those who want to help, our common goal is to complement on a case by case basis the major response of the Government and large humanitarian organizations such as the Red Cross, Catholic Relief Services, The Salvation Army, the Bush and Clinton Katrina/Rita Relief Fund, US Freedom Corps and many others. In the face of unprecedented challenge, not a single group can do everything. Fellow citizens of various ethnic and religious backgrounds, still desperate for material and emotional support, are in need of healing, physically, mentally and spiritually.

3. Sponsors, both individual/family and corporate can participate:

• Individual/family godparents can choose to give $600 bi-annually
• Corporate sponsors can give as they wish from $2,400 once a year to support more than one family

• $5.00 - will provide an emergency meal for two street children (bread, ham, fruit, yogurt and soft drink)
• $25.00 - will buy a pair of shoes for a needy child –or 200 bricks and 2 bags of cement for a house
• $50.00 - will provide food for one child for one month
• $100.00 - will provide a year’s basic health and dental care for a child
• $250.00 - will provide basic education for a destitute child for one year
• $500.00 - can be used to repair the roof of a small house
• $750.00 - allows us to purchase a three-year old milk cow for a family
• $1,000.00 - can be used to purchase windows and doors for a two bedroom house
• $1,200.00 to $1,400.00 - 1child/1 year golden heart donation: will allow us to take care of one child, who has no social support, for one year: food $600; clothing/ shoes $250; basic dental/health $100; school from $100 for a small kid to $300 for a teenager; sports/social/cultural activities $150
